Bauromat’s Bryant Extends Championship Lead Despite Late Race Drama

Will Bryant, the Bauromat backed motorcycle rider, extended his point advantage in the Pre-injection 700cc championship with two wins and a narrow second place at Cadwell Park last weekend.

It was very almost a career first hat-trick of victories for the Shrewsbury rider, but while leading on the final lap of the last race of the weekend, his ever reliable Bauromat Honda CBR 600 began losing power, coughing its way around the final stages of the narrow Lincolnshire circuit.

The stuttering end to the race meant that Bryant had to concede the win, however due to his impressive lead prior to the issue, that was the only position he lost as his bike crawled over the line in second.

“I’m unsure what it was” he said

“I think it’s some sort of fueling problem, I’ll have to pull it apart this week and sort it out. It was disappointing to have finished the weekend in that way, but I’ve extended my championship lead so I’m pretty happy”.

Bryant’s fortunes were much greater earlier on in the weekend, where following on from a positive Friday test session in which he familiarized his new bike with the notoriously tricky circuit, he stuck his Honda CBR 600 on pole in class for the opener.

An early red flag forced a restart in race one and Bryant maintained his cool to claim the victory, despite having to navigate the final stages of the race with rain slowly beginning to make the circuit greasy and unpredictable.

It was a similar story for race two, and the first race of Sunday morning. Overnight rain had added to the unpredictable conditions, but with a drying line appearing for the race start, Bryant opted for slick tyres – a decision that allowed him to secure a comfortable victory 10 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.

Following his impressive season opening performance at Anglesey last month in which he scored the exact same results, Bryant now holds an emphatic 34pt advantage over his nearest rival after only two rounds of the 2018 season and heads to round 3 (Snetterton, Norfolk) as the man to beat.
